I am a healthcare psychologist based in Voorburg, near The Hague. I am BIG-certified. BIG means ‘Professions in the Healthcare of the Individual’ (Beroepen in de Individuele Gezondheidszorg.) The BIG-register is a governmental body that lists officially acknowledged providers of healthcare. Only BIG-registered professionals are legally authorised to use this protected title that stands for identifiable expertise and capability.

In order to get included in the BIG-register healthcare professionals need to have completed a course or training that is approved by the Dutch government. Here is a link to more information about the system of mental health care in the Netherlands.

In my work, I treat clients with CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), solution focussed therapy and EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing). I offer treatment in the so called “generalistische basis GGZ“; so short (USUALLY up to AROUND 12 sessions), hands-on and goal-oriented treatment. I treat different problems, such as depression, different kinds of anxiety, and trauma. My practice is suited for adults (ages 18 and up) with mild-moderate symptoms.

English is not my first language, but I feel comfortable treating clients in English, and have done so successfully in the past.

We first have an intake, to assess your problems and your situation. we also talk about what your treatment goals are. if we agree to work together, we make a treatment plan, and start the therapy process. if we decide you need an other form of help, i will try my best to point you in the right direction.

for the treatment to be reimbursed by health insurance, there needs to be a dsm-5 diagnosis - i will determine that in the intake. you also need a referral letter from your GP or other healthcare professional. If I have a contract with your health insurance provider, the cost will be covered by them directly (minus your “statutory excess“, or in Dutch Eigen Risico). If I do not have a contract with your health insurance provider, you will pay for treatment yourself - and you can ask your health insurance for reimbursement. Health insurers often reimburse quite a large percentage of the treatment fee. I advise you to ask your health insurer for information before starting treatment. If you want to pay for the sessions yourself, for instance because you don’t have a diagnosis but want to have some coaching/focus on prevention, that is also possible.

If you would like to make an appointment, you can send me an email at info@momentumpsychologie.net . please also feel free to send me an email with any questions you have about my practice.
